A Galentine's Day Tribute

It's February 13, and big thanks to Leslie Knope, Galentine's Day! And since this space is run by two girl BFF's, we are celebrating! Happy Galentine's day, y'all! Here are some books that celebrate female friendships. (Also, all of these books have film adaptations!)

1. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Classic story of high school friendship. High school is tough, and the girls can be mean. But if anything could bring high school girls together, it would be a magical pair of pants. It's a nostalgic story that will make you appreciate your BFF.

2. Little Women

Okay, so they're all sisters...but they're also all best friends. IT COUNTS! Ultimately, it's a story about life's ups and downs and how these sisters navigate through them together. Plus, Little Women is SUCH a classic. I laugh, I cry. I could re-read it every year.

3. Fried Green Tomatoes

Idgie and Ruth - the most iconic female duo! They're always looking out for each other, but they're also always getting into trouble together. Their friendship is epic. And this book has the best film adaptation, in my opinion.

4. The Jane Austen Book Club

I actually saw the movie before I read the book. (Obviously, the book was better.) This one is similar to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but it's about adults. The women (and one dude) in this book club are there for each other through whatever life throws at them (or their daughters). It's funny and touching all at once.

Now, excuse me while I go call my bestie to tell her how much I love her. Happy Galentine's Day, y'all!
